Mercedes has long produced some of the most lavish and undoubtedly head-turning cars on the road. In recent years, the Mercedes SLR McLaren was known as one of the finest sports cars on the planet. Not a company to rest on their laurels, Mercedes quickly went to work again to produce the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to replace their award-winning model.

Sales are almost ready to begin for the SLS AMG in Europe, with the US market getting their taste in 2011. The price for this Benz is expected to be in excess of $200,000 USD, making it one of the more expensive sports cars on the road, although still behind other big names like Ferrari and Lamborghini.

Mercedes immediately picked up a lot of recognition for this model when it was first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. Although it’s not technically out on the road yet, it is already the safety car for the Formula One Championship series, and it is also already featured in the PlayStation 3 videogame Gran Turismo 5.

The design of the SLS AMG is supposedly an update to one of the Mercedes’ all-time models in the 300SL Gullwing. The short body of this car and the passenger placement nearer the real axle make it both compact and easier to handle at higher speeds than other similar models. The wing door set-up is akin to Lamborghini’s (or Benz’s Gullwing) doors; and the doors are fully detachable.

Currently, Mercedes-Benz is planning on releasing four separate versions of the SLS AMG. The first is going to be a coupe-style vehicle with the abovementioned door features. A gold-colored version of this car made its global debut at the Dubai International Auto Show.

From 2011 to 2013, Mercedes will release their second version of the SLS AMG – a soft-top roadster with basic doors. There is also set to be an electric version of the car, although critics are already lining up to speak out against an electric sports car, as it cannot possibly perform as well.

The final version of the SLS AMG Mercedes plans to release is the Black Series. This will be the most daring of all four models, as the Black Series will be extremely trimmed down and is expected to have a reduced overall weight of 661 pounds.

As far as performance goes, the Mercedes SLS AMG is a powerful car for its size. The M 159 V8 engine has a displacement of 378.835 cubic inches and redlines at 7200 RPM. Handling the task of proper gearing will be a standard transmission – a 7-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic transmission with a lightweight carbon construction and multiple driving modes.

This Mercedes can definitely get up and go. It’s able to reach a speed of 60 MPH in only 3.8 seconds, and it has an electronically limited speed of 197 MPH (although the car is able to go much faster in theory). Carbon-ceramic disc brakes with 40% weight reduction are in place to slow the Benz down.

A car is a symbol

For many, the car they own reflects an aspect of who they are and is intended to create an impression. This is particularly true of those who own sports cars, which are a status symbol with a reputation of their own. Many people would love to have the finances to own a sports car but these luxury items are not generally affordable. This is why buying a used sports car is such an attractive option. Second hand cars that are only a couple of years old can sometimes be bought for half the original price, plus they depreciate much slower than new cars. Apart from saving money in used car sales, there is a unique appeal about older sports cars in their classic appearance which is appreciated by car enthusiasts who buy them as collectibles.

How to research

Before you begin investigating specific used cars for sale, it is important to have a clear idea of the car you want and also to set a budget. You can do research by looking up used car sales online, visiting eBay motors, reading AutoTrader magazines, participating in online forums, and consulting car dealers. This will furnish you with information on the type of second hand sports cars available, what people recommend, problems that seem to be inherent to some models, and also the price ranges. Thorough research provides you with a good knowledge base before looking at individual second hand cars for sale, and enables you to ask informed questions.

Who to buy from

While buying used cars from an individual can give you a better financial deal, many people prefer to buy from a recognised second hand car dealer. Car dealerships can give you a warranty package and you have the advantage of going to the dealer for general maintenance or to have your car repaired. There is also the option of trading in your present vehicle. It can be to your advantage to choose a dealership that specializes in the make of sports car you want so that they are well-informed and can give you good advice.

Investigating a used car

When you have narrowed your choices to a number of used cars for sale, it is vitally important to thoroughly examine each sports car. You need to ensure it has been well looked after and not damaged. Look for any scratches or dents to the body, pay attention to the mouldings and rubber strips, and check to see if the paint-work has been over-sprayed which would indicate a possible accident. Open the hood and check the condition of the engine and fluids. Also look for grease or too much moisture inside the tail pipe. It is a good idea to have the car checked by a mechanic, especially if you are not an expert. You need to consider aspects of the car that need to be fixed when thinking about what the car will cost you.

Always request the car service records and if these are not supplied do not even consider buying the car as this shows the seller has not been concerned about proper maintenance. You should also obtain a history report of the car online from CarFax to ensure there have not been any major mechanical problems or serious damage done to the car. Finally, you need to test drive the second hand car as only by testing its performance can you really get a feel for the condition of the car.

Happy motoring!

Japanese cars are famous throughout the world for their value, quality, reliability, durability and above all economical prices. Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Suzuki are best known brands used all over the globe. Though all these brands are sold at their dedicated showrooms in each country, every week more than 100,000 used Japanese cars are imported worldwide. These cars are imported either for personal use or commercial. From cars to SUVs and Buses people like importing Japanese cars at low and affordable prices. These used cars are first bought and driven in Japan, later they are sold in the grey market. A grey import vehicle is sold and marketed legally through channels other than Vehicle Company owned showrooms, therefore; a grey market refers to the markets where such vehicles are sold.

10 best Japanese sport cars are Toyota Supra, Honda Integra Type R. Toyota MR2 Turbo, Nissan Skyline, Toyota Celica, Mitsubishi FTO, Nissan 300ZX, Mazda RX-7, Honda Prelude and Mitsubishi 3000GT.

For importing a Japanese sports car the easiest way is to log on to internet, find an appropriate importing agent or a dealer, participate in an auction, buy the desired sports car, and get it. The process seems simple, but it’s not. It is advisable to proceed through a dealer as you get a full control over the process. The dealer also makes sure that the vehicle is delivered on time, without and damages made. The hard work included in the process is only handled by the dealer themselves, also providing a viable warranty. The person buying the sports car can view it over the internet; they can choose the color, model and directly participate in the auction too. Every importing agent has a direct or indirect relation with an exporting agent in Japan. For the supply chain to work, they further contact the exporter. The duty of the exporter in this case is simpler.

The export agent would pick the vehicle; give it to a freight forwarding company that too is in business relation with both the exporter and importer. Once the vehicle is on board there are different taxations and custom duty that are paid by the buyer.

Although all the cumbersome work is guarded by the dealer you choose, it is important to know that the dealer chosen is reliable and dependable. As you are the primary buyer if the vehicle, you must make sure you get all details of the vehicle and its transportation.

Individuals often ask themselves why people like sports cars. Some say that it is the macho image, some say that it is a striving to revisit the owner’s youth, some see them as sex symbols and pulling magnets and perhaps all those are valid, but one thing is for certain, sports cars stand out in an age when you have to be an expert on cars to be able to tell the difference between the different models without looking at the badge.

Contemporary family cars all look the same; all SUV’s look the same, all pick ups look the same, because they are all designed by computer and computers can only come to one ‘best’ conclusion. Enquire of a computer which is the most aerodynamic shape and it is not going to give you fifty alternatives, is it? As a result, all family cars look the same.

But sports cars are all different. Manufacturers of sports cars want their cars to stand out for their beauty and style among other items. That is not to say that sports car manufacturers do not use computers, but they can allow themselves more leeway in the design aspect because the engine is going to be stronger and the materials are going to be dearer (that means lighter) and fuel economy is not the name of the game – beauty and style are.

If you doubt what I am saying, look at real racing cars like those in Formula One – they all look the same as well, because a computer was asked: what is the most aerodynamic and fuel economic shape? Beauty and style are beside the point in Formula One.

Another reason why Individuals like sports cars is because they are faster than regular cars, although most countries have restrictions on how fast you can drive on their roads. However, the fast acceleration that a performance car like a sports car has, is still useful for overtaking and getting out of difficulty. If used properly, acceleration is a helpful safety feature.

Some people also like to show off their wealth by purchasing an ostentatious car, because everybody knows that a Maserati, a Lamborghini or a Ferrari is very expensive. The appearance of these cars is important to their owners, because not only are they ostentatious, but they are also beautiful, sleek and stylish and the owner hopes that some of that identity will rub off on him or her.

Different sports cars also have different driving characteristics. Whilst this is a fact of all marques of cars, it does not matter so much if steering is a touch light on a family car travelling at 40 mph, but it does on a sports car travelling at 80 mph.

The car has to be just correct for the driver’s ability and preferences. The car will not be manufactured to suit the driver, so drivers of sports cars usually have their favourites the choice of which is affected by its handling characteristics.

A last reason why people like sports cars is because they often hold their value well and can even increase in value if it is a particularly good or desirable model.

Now a day many people prefer to customize the look of their vehicles. The old vehicle is often modified with new look and new features to get their dream vehicles. Doing that thing might make you able to have unique and personalized car than buying a new standard vehicles. It is easy to modify the outdoor look of your old vehicles, but you have to also consider about replacing the internal spare parts of vehicles, such as vintage air conditioner with new ones. So you can get both pride and comfort by driving your modified vehicles.

The older the vehicles, usually the spare parts performance will tend to decrease. There is no other way besides replacing the old spare parts if you want to get comfort riding your old vehicles. The different design between vintage and new vehicles often makes us difficult to find the right spare parts for our old vehicles. Many kinds of vintage spare parts such as automotive air conditioning compressor often do not suite with the new models that is sold in the market.

This thing is no longer a problem for vintage vehicles lover. Now a day, you can easily get the fit spare parts for your vehicles through online.

They drive quickly. They’re sleek, British and very sexy.

They’re the Cheryl Coles, Kelly Brooks, Liz Hurley’s and Sienna Millers of sports car design.

They’re TVR’s…….and they are the zenith of great British sports car engineering.

Forget other analogies of what’s great about Britain, like fish ‘n’ chips, roast beef, cream teas and a pint in a British pub: we’re talking about desire; we’re talking powerful; and we’re talking very sexy…..but we’re not talking dirty.

We’re talking cool; we’re talking exclusive; we’re talking fit; and we’re talking about a date that you want to keep with your next dream car.

The TVR marque has become something of a legend in recent years. Since ceasing production in 2007,the brand has been linked with numerous piston head rumours and the former TVR management team; Russian billionaires; two American businessmen wanting to start production in Orlando of 5,000 units per annum and TVR’s former managing director, David Oxley.

All I can say is ‘keep watching.’

TVR is in the hearts and minds of thousands of enthusiasts and owners, and its manufacturing demise is only temporary.

Aspiring owners can secure these sexy beasts online and from reputable UK TVR dealers.

Parts, servicing and after-sales support is guaranteed through the bona fide dealer supply line, and the vehicles and marque are still many a motorists’ favourite dream.

When it comes to talking about individual models I am in my element, and can wax lyrical about their specifications and characteristic sauciness.

The word that best sums up TVR’s famous Chimaera is…….effortless. Propelled by the legendary TVR Power, a development of the Rover V8,its 4.5 litre [285bhp] engine can take this beauty from 0 to 60mph in 4.7 seconds and propel you from 0 to 100mph in 11.2 seconds. With a top speed of 160 mph you might not be in the quickest car on the road, but you WILL know you’re driving a fun car. Its big bore stainless steel exhaust system emanates an awesome V8 sound and it is optimised for maximum performance.

Aesthetically, the Chimaera is a beautiful design enhanced by 15 inch front and 16 inch rear alloys. One look into the cockpit spells………..seduction on sight. A 350mm leather covered steering wheel is mounted on an adjustable column: everything about the dash design and instrument panel tells you, ‘I’m British and proud of the fact.’

TVR’s Tamara is a fully convertible, 2 seated, 3.6 litres straight 6, rear wheel drive sports car for the fun-loving motorist. Accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 4.4 seconds, it can reach 100mph in 9.5 seconds and 175mph as a top speed. The TVR’s Tamora has got the power and pace to entertain, and exhilarate sports car enthusiasts.

Specifications include ambient air temperature, alarm and engine immobiliser, remote window closing, CD/radio with removable face, and the usual bag of goodies like stainless steel exhaust,16 inch alloys [or Anthracite or Silver] wheels and refined finishing throughout.

TVR’s 2 door, 4 seat coupe – with an integral roll cage – gives the passionate and patriotic British sports car enthusiast an added dimension in interior space, plus power and luxurious comfort. The Cerbera is certainly a class act to follow, if you are trying to play catch-up on the open road. Its

4.2 litre [360bhp] V8 engine will take you from 0 to 60mph in 4.2 seconds. You can quickly reach 100mph from a standing start in only 9.9 seconds and continue up to a maximum speed of 180 mph.

Not forgetting the Cerbera’s 4.5 litre bigger sister, can give you a real adrenaline rush by reaching a top speed of 195mph. Both have sumptuous interiors with all the mod-cons associated with TVR’s advanced engineering, together with ice detectors, electric windows, remote window closing, and alarm and engine immobiliser.

These babes are real head-turners and from the rear might be mistaken for a Jaguar coupe, but not by a TVR pundit.

How can I NOT get excited when mentioning TVR’s Tuscan?

In one word……….temptation.

TVR delivered a 2 seat, straight 6, inline alloy engine with rear wheel drive. The bigger Tuscan S offers 3995cc capacity which will deliver a top speed of 195mph plus. The Tuscan exhibits 18 inch alloys and looks a beast of a babe to handle, but she drives like a dream. From the moment you feast your eyes along the front of her plunging bonnet and towards her seductive eyes,[gas discharge headlights on full beam],your heart will start racing in unison with her 390bhp engine.

Everything about the Tuscan S says simplistic design meets great British engineering: within the interior her machined aluminium trim finish offsets the cockpit interior and innovative steering wheel design like a profound British axiom……..She’s cool. It speaks to you saying………’Drive me for all I’m worth and enjoy the climax at 195mph plus.’

How can anyone resist her pulsating charm and power?

TVR’s prestigious portfolio of classic sports cars and coupes would not be complete without the T350, 2 seat, 3.6 litre straight 6, with rear wheel drive. Its compact good looks are beguiling, and must not deceive motorists as she packs an incredibly responsive performance punch. Any sports animal reaching 60 mph from a standing start in 4.4 seconds is a T350 tiger waiting to be tamed. With her sexy racing seats and interior styling, the T350 has something of sauciness about her demeanour.

18 inch alloys give her an eye-catching, stiletto stature no testosterone petrol head can ignore.

Pull up at the bus stop in this curvaceous centrefold and that stunningly attractive babe whom you drive past every day will be drooling at your asset and she won’t be able to resist your courteous offer………

‘Care for a lift into town in my TVR?’ you ask.

There’s a short pause – which feels like an eternity to you – and then she responds…..

‘I would have preferred the Tuscan S which is a class act and epitomises TVR’s pulsating performance values’.

‘You’re the class act in this conversation, gorgeous, ‘you retort confidently.

‘In that case I know you’re a gentleman and the T350 will not undermine my status in front of all my work colleagues.’

You lean across and open the door and in steps the girl of your dreams. You’re in heaven and the T350 purrs like the babe beside you as you smoothly accelerate away.

If only…….? if only…….?

If only a dream can become a reality, like buying a classic TVR?

For every motorist out there today your dreams CAN soon become a reality, when seeking that special TVR sports car.

Motorists who do use the internet will have no problem finding a classic, second-hand model online.

Load your specifications – which should not include the owner has to be a Kelly Brook lookalike – and before you know it the TVR is within your grasp. Don’t forget to specify the model, engine size, and colour preference, mileage and budget parameters; it will reduce response disappointments.

Girls may prefer the Griffith 500 with its more compact, good looks. DON’T be deceived into a false sense of security as – yet again – TVR have hidden a 5 litre, 90 degree V8 beast beneath the bonnet. She’ll hurtle you from 0 to 60mph in 4.1 seconds and hit 100mph [from a standing start] within 10.5 seconds. Offering a maximum speed of 167mph, you know your natural feminine charms may be overtaken by a sudden urge to become macho and aggressive………and forget the lady within, in your excitement at turning laddish!

There’s a touch of class about the Griffith 500′s walnut dash facia, leather steering wheel, mohair soft-top roof, stainless steel exhaust, tinted glass and 7 spoke alloys. She positively pulsates – even when parked – by deflecting envious glances from jealous motorists.

Let temptation take over your driving aspirations.

Don’t go down the pragmatic pathway by assessing all the reasons why a TVR is not your bag. Do you want to be another boring babe or ‘Going soft guy’?

Avoid driving into the nearest Ford or Vauxhall franchise dealer and inspecting a piece of family motoring mediocrity.

‘Have a little faith’, as Oddball said in Kelly’s Heroes. ‘Always with the negative vibes, have a little faith.’

It’s your turn to have more than a little faith and fun by trusting your better judgement…….and your discerning instinct.

Do some online research to find the TVR of your dreams. Find that sexy design. Seek your very own Cheryl Cole or Liz Hurley sports car lookalike. She out there waiting for you.

Motoring can be fun ‘n’ sexy for everyone.

It can be in a great sports car like a beautiful, British TVR.

Are you looking for a car, with a sporty look, but don’t want to spend buckets of cash on a sporty automobile that tends to be very expensive for the pocket, then you should think about a hybrid sports car. These vehicles are very different from a normal sports vehicle. The normal sports car is not very fuel efficient and after spending a fortune to own a sporty car, you also have to spend heavily on the fuel as well. To overcome all your problems, various companies have invented hybrid sports cars. Generally it is believed that hybrid cars are not very fast on the road, but these hybrid cars were designed keeping all these factors in mind.

The hybrid sports car was made by taking various important factors into account. The first factor is the fuel efficiency factor. There are people who wish to buy a trendy automobile, but the factor that refrains them from doing so, is the heavy amount of expenditure of fuel and insurance. Most sporty vehicles have large motors and a sleek body to support their extreme output for high speeds. The reason for this is these automobiles use enormous amount of fuel because their engines are very heavy. But a hybrid sport car was designed to overcome this drawback. These hybrid cars have a comparatively light body and smaller engines. With this kind of structure and engine the hybrid cars prove to be very efficient fuel users. Again the other factor which would concern the prospective buyer is the comparative slow speed of hybrid cars. This factor has also been given consideration and hybrid sports cars have a feature of fine speed attached to it. The hybrid sports cars are also eco- friendly, this means these cars do not emit harmful gases which cause global warming. By using such cars we can assure a better future and a cleaner environment for the coming generation. The fact that hybrid cars are half battery operated makes these cars a good option with people opting for fuel efficient automobiles.

It is believed, that the biggest drawback with hybrid sports car is the cost factor, but if we compare the cost and fuel efficiency then we see that these vehicles would provide us with more long term benefits then a non hybrid car. There are many advantages attached to these hybrid cars. This is a car which can fulfill all your dreams. The car of tomorrow is here. This car holds all the aspects of a good sporty vehicle. It will provide you with assurance of quality and money. There are very limited manufacturers like Toyota, Honda etc which are manufacturing hybrid sports cars. The fact is that, if more of these cars would be in demand then the supply would also increase which would eventually reduce the cost factor. It is very important for the people to know the various positive aspects of these cars. Every now and then there are more features added to these cars. They are not only beautiful, trendy, smart and elegant but also hold all the attributes to be called the car of the next generation. There is a car available in the market which would satisfy all your desires of owning a sporty car and that is hybrid sports car.

Perhaps the most popular sports car from 1980 until Japan was the Toyota AE86.

Chevrolet Corvette is often known as “America’s Sports Car” due to the fact that it is the first American sports car built by General Motors of U.S. carmaker General. Corvette has a reputation as a powerful and affordable car for more than 50 years now. The car was first in 1953 and was produced in a GM plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. What sets the Corvette apart from its European counterparts, the emphasis is on simplicity. Most competing brands depend on smaller volumes and a complex engine. Corvette the other hand, uses a large volume and a single overhead valve that often resulted in an engine easier, cheaper and smaller. The same philosophy is also reflected in the type of suspension used by the Corvette where GM opted to use the transverse leaf springs.

The name of the level of Chevrolet sports car entry in 1953, comes from a warship in the handy class frigate with the same name. Whoever is responsible for choosing the name of the sports car was Myron E. Scott GM, which happens to be the creator of the Soap Box Derby. The early Corvettes have fiberglass for their outer body, because of steel quotas left by the war. The engine was used as the “Blue Flame” six cylinder engine in line with truck in two stages Powerglide automatic transmission and drum brakes that are similar to any line of Chevrolet in the season. Compared to their European counterparts, the Corvette has been a vehicle of low power. It was not until 1954 that a compressor Paxton became available as an option is installed. This improvement in performance of the Corvette, but was still behind its counterparts.

Corvette underwent major changes in 1963 and marked the beginning of the second generation Corvette, which was also known by the acronym C2. There were several body designs made by Larry Shinoda, who published 1963-1968. Sports development windows Corvette Stingray split-rear and the hood vents also false started in 1968. A selection of engine 6.5 L big block was available, and a bigger engine block came 7L 1966.The Third generation (C3) Corvette design made by Larry Shinoda was inspired by a mako shark. The C3 lasted until 1982 and every year several improvements were added to the Corvette especially on the engine. In 1973, compounds substituted urethane bumper car chrome Corvette.

There are several known variants C4 Corvette namely the B2K Callaway Twin Turbo (1987), ZR-1, also known as the King of the Hill (1990) and the Corvette Grand Sport (1996). They opened the way for the development of the C5, C5 Z06, C5-R (1997-2004) Corvette. Major changes in these models is hydrofoamed box frame, the transmission was placed at the rear of the car and the LS1 small-block rated at 345 hp. The Z06 is the successor to the ZR-1 and inherited most of its qualities. The Z06 comes with the LS6 engine and a lighter frame that makes it faster than the ZR-1, but has less power than the DOHC ZR-1, which makes it slower than its predecessor.
